Bingo Lingo

Kids love games.  Some are educational and some are just plain fun.  Bingo can go either way. By using the weekly vocabulary, you can reinforce sight recognition of their words.  By using holiday words, you can fill the time when many students are absent for some reason.

  • There’s the regular up, down, or diagonal lines
  • You can do the regular lines but require 2 bingos
  • Four corners
  • Small box (all the boxes around the free space)
  • Large box (around all the edges)
  • Equal sign (two parallel bingos on either side of the free space)
  • Fence (B, N, and O only)
  • Letter E (top row, middle row, and bottom row plus the B column)
  • Blank out (cover all the spaces – but make sure you have plenty of options or everybody will be yelling Bingo! at once!)
  • Now let’s get a little creative: Have everyone stand up.  When a component is called and it’s on their sheet, they sit down.  The last person standing with no squares covered is the winner.  Again, you need lots of numbers, letters, etc. for this to work.

If you want to make your own bingo games, I find www.bingobaker.com very easy to use.  It’s $24.95 for a lifetime membership, but it is SO totally worth it!  (If you find you don’t like it, the fee is refundable up to 30 days after purchase.) You can either save multiple mixed copies or post your game online (privately with a URL link) to play with your virtual students (Gee, I hope we don’t go back to that!)  You can use pictures, words, or anything you want to copy and paste into the bingo boxes.

Copy your completed, saved bingo games into EASEL by Teachers Pay Teachers, and you can add moveable “chips” to the game.  See my free sample for back-to-school HERE.  It takes a little finesse to get used to the system, but once you master it, I guarantee you’ll be hooked!

Now about those bingo games.  If you’ve been to the local firehouse or church that sponsors bingo games, you’ll know that there are many different combinations to play.

Have fun with all of these bingo options.  Come up with your own prizes depending on the season or the unit that you’re showcasing with your game.

See my other Bingo games HERE. As you can see, I'm not done with the monthly STEM bingos, but I'll get there eventually!
